Calculate one semester
Leave the previous result at zero and enter course credits with expected or published grades.
Calculate a semester GPA, combine several semesters, or project your cumulative CGPA from current credits and planned course grades. Built for Bangladesh's common 4.00 format, with direct grade-point entry for other university scales.
Use Course grades when you know individual credits and grades. Use Semester GPAs when you already have each term's GPA and credit total. Results update as you type.
Leave both at zero to calculate one semester only.
The common scale is a convenient starting point, not a rule for every university. Choose Enter points when your transcript uses different values.
Multiply each course grade point by its credits, add those quality points, then divide by the total included credits. When combining semester GPAs, weight every semester by its credit total instead of taking a simple average.
CGPA = Σ (grade point × course credit) ÷ Σ course creditsThe two entry modes separate what is known from what is still being planned, while keeping every result credit-weighted.
Leave the previous result at zero and enter course credits with expected or published grades.
Start with completed credits and current CGPA, then add the next set of courses.
Enter each semester's GPA and credits to get a weighted cumulative average.
Set a target CGPA and see the GPA required across the new credits in your plan.
This table is widely used in Bangladesh, but an institution may split letter bands or assign different values. Select Enter points in the calculator whenever your official transcript uses another scale.
| Letter grade | Grade point |
|---|---|
| A+ | 4.00 |
| A | 3.75 |
| A- | 3.50 |
| B+ | 3.25 |
| B | 3.00 |
| B- | 2.75 |
| C+ | 2.50 |
| C | 2.25 |
| D | 2.00 |
| F | 0.00 |
The University Grants Commission provides grading guidance, while institutions publish their own academic rules. Retakes, excluded grades, pass marks and repeated credits can change the official CGPA. Use the exact points and included credits shown by your institution; use the dedicated NSU or National University calculator when those rules apply.
Use course grades for a current or planned term, and semester GPAs for published term results.
Use attempted or earned credits exactly as your institution defines them, not the number of courses.
Use the common scale only when it matches your transcript; otherwise switch to direct points.
Treat this as an estimate and compare it with the official portal or transcript after results are published.
A 21-credit semester should not have the same weight as a 12-credit semester.
Retake treatment differs by institution; follow the rule in your academic handbook.
Required GPA can exceed 4.00 when the chosen target is not reachable with the entered credits.
BanglaTools performs the arithmetic locally. Your university's transcript and academic regulations remain the final authority.
Quick answers about credit weighting, 4.00 scales, semester results and target planning.
Multiply each grade point by that course's credits, add the results, and divide by all included credits. The answer remains on the 4.00 scale when every grade point is between 0.00 and 4.00.
Only when every semester has the same number of credits. Otherwise, multiply each semester GPA by its credits and divide the total points by the total credits.
Yes. Open Course grades, leave completed credits and current CGPA at zero, then enter the courses from that semester.
Enter completed credits and current CGPA, add the next courses with expected grade points, and read Projected CGPA. It combines previous and planned quality points.
The grade menu uses a common Bangladesh 4.00 scale. Because universities can use different points, you can switch to Enter points and copy the exact values from your transcript.
The general calculator does not guess a retake policy because institutions treat repeated courses differently. Adjust the included credits and points according to your university rules or use an institution-specific calculator.
