DIRECT ANSWER

How is SSC GPA calculated in Bangladesh?

Add the grade points of all compulsory subjects. From the fourth subject, add only the amount above 2.00. Divide that total by the number of compulsory subjects and cap the answer at 5.00. An F in any compulsory subject makes the result failed; an F in the optional subject gives no bonus but does not fail the whole result.

SSC GPA = (compulsory grade points + max[4th subject GP − 2, 0]) ÷ compulsory subjects

Marks and grade input

Use raw marks or the final letter grades from the marksheet. Bangla and English are handled as combined 200-mark subjects.

Flexible fourth subject

Choose which group subject is optional. Its bonus is shown separately instead of being hidden inside the average.

Core GPA and final GPA

Compare GPA without the fourth subject against the final GPA after the allowed optional-subject bonus.

Fail and A+ checks

See compulsory-subject failures and whether GPA 5.00 was earned in every compulsory subject or with optional bonus.

SSC GRADING SCALE

Marks, letter grade and grade point

For a 200-mark combined subject, the same percentages apply: A+ starts at 160, A at 140 and the pass mark at 66.

WORKED EXAMPLE

How the fourth subject changes GPA

Suppose nine compulsory subjects total 39.00 grade points and the fourth subject is A+ (5.00).

  1. 01

    Compulsory total

    39.00 points across 9 subjects

  2. 02

    Fourth-subject bonus

    5.00 − 2.00 = 3.00 points

  3. 03

    Final calculation

    (39.00 + 3.00) ÷ 9 = 4.67 GPA

BEFORE YOU USE THE RESULT

Treat it as a calculation, not an official transcript.

Use combined results for Bangla and English. Enter both papers together out of 200, or choose the final combined letter grade shown by the board.

Subject combinations can differ. Select the closest group and set the correct fourth subject. If your board or institution applies a different subject list, follow the official marksheet.

Verify published results officially. BanglaTools does not fetch or change board results. Compare this calculation with the official Education Board result portal.

COMMON QUESTIONS

SSC GPA calculator FAQ

Answers about marks, grades, the fourth subject, failed subjects, GPA 5.00, combined papers and official results.

How do I calculate SSC GPA with the fourth subject?

Add the grade points from all compulsory subjects. Subtract 2.00 from the fourth subject grade point and add only a positive remainder. Divide by the number of compulsory subjects and cap the result at 5.00.

Does an F in the fourth subject fail the SSC result?

No. An F in the optional fourth subject contributes no bonus, but it does not by itself fail the full result. An F in a compulsory subject does make the result failed.

Can I calculate SSC GPA from marks?

Yes. Enter Bangla and English as combined totals out of 200 and other subjects out of 100. The calculator converts each percentage to the Bangladesh SSC letter grade and grade point.

What is GPA without the fourth subject?

It is the average of compulsory-subject grade points before any optional-subject bonus. It helps show whether GPA 5.00 came from all compulsory A+ grades or from the fourth-subject bonus.

How many A+ grades are needed for GPA 5?

There is no single fixed number because the fourth-subject bonus can offset lower grade points. Golden A+ commonly means A+ in every compulsory subject, while a final GPA of 5.00 may also be reached with optional-subject bonus points.

Are Bangla 1st and 2nd paper calculated separately?

For this calculator they are entered as one combined Bangla result out of 200. English is handled the same way. If you use grade mode, choose the final combined grade printed on the marksheet.

Is this calculator an official SSC result?

No. It calculates GPA from the values you enter. Verify the published result and transcript through the official Bangladesh Education Board result portal.

Are my marks stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and the entered marks are not uploaded to BanglaTools.
