DIRECT ANSWER

How is a loan EMI calculated in Bangladesh?

For a reducing-balance loan, the monthly interest is applied to the remaining balance and the payment is recalculated across the term. For a flat-rate estimate, interest is applied to the original amount. The right method depends on the lender's contract, so compare the method shown in your offer before using the result.

Reducing EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1)

WORKED EXAMPLE

What the estimate tells you

For a BDT 500,000 loan at 10% annual interest over 3 years, the reducing-balance result separates the monthly payment from the total cost.

  1. 01

    Monthly payment

The regular EMI needed when no extra payment is made.

  2. 02

    Interest over time

The interest portion falls as the outstanding balance is paid down.

  3. 03

    Planning difference

Adding an extra BDT 2,000 each month can shorten the estimated payoff period, but the lender's settlement rules still apply.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT INPUT

Use the rate and method in your actual offer.

A loan calculator can compare numbers, but it cannot know a lender's disbursement date, insurance, VAT, schedule of charges or early-settlement policy. Enter the annual rate and method stated in your document, keep fees separate, and confirm the final repayment schedule with the bank.

WHAT EACH RESULT MEANS

Monthly payment is only one part of the cost

Review all four figures before deciding whether a loan fits your budget.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

An estimate is not a bank approval.

Use the lender's current rate. Rates can change by product, borrower profile and approval date. Do not rely on a remembered or advertised rate.

Check fees outside the EMI. Processing fees, insurance, VAT and late charges may not be included unless you enter them.

Confirm the contract method. Reducing-balance and flat-rate numbers are not interchangeable. Compare the calculator method with your offer letter.

Protect your monthly budget. A lower EMI over a longer term can cost more interest. Compare total repayment, not only the monthly figure.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Loan calculator BD FAQ

Answers about EMI, interest methods, fees, repayment schedules and Bangladesh loan planning.

What is a loan calculator BD used for?

It estimates the monthly installment, total interest and repayment cost of a loan using an amount, annual interest rate and term. It is useful for comparing a personal, home, car or other Bangladesh loan before you apply.

What is the difference between reducing balance and flat rate?

Reducing-balance interest is calculated on the outstanding balance, so the interest portion generally falls over time. Flat-rate interest is based on the original amount for the estimate. Use the method written in your lender's offer.

What does EMI mean?

EMI means Equated Monthly Installment. It is the regular payment that combines principal and interest for a scheduled loan.

Can I use this as an EMI calculator BD?

Yes. Choose a loan amount, annual rate and term, then calculate the monthly EMI in BDT. You can also view the interest and principal split in the repayment schedule.

Does the calculator use live Bangladesh bank rates?

No. You enter the rate from your own offer. This avoids presenting an outdated rate as a quote; confirm current rates and fees with the lender or Bangladesh Bank information.

Can I add a processing fee or insurance?

Yes. Enter known fees in the optional fee field. The calculator adds them to total cost but does not pretend to know taxes, insurance or charges that you have not entered.

How can I pay off a loan sooner?

Add an estimated extra monthly payment or one-time prepayment and compare the resulting payoff period. Check your contract first because early-settlement fees or limits can change the real result.

Why can my bank EMI differ from this result?

A bank may use a different interest method, disbursement date, day-count convention, rounding rule, insurance, fees or first-payment date. This page is a planning estimate, not a final repayment schedule.

Can I download the repayment schedule?

Yes. After calculating, use Download schedule to save the visible month-by-month estimate as a CSV file for your own comparison.

Is this a loan approval or financial advice?

No. It is a calculation tool. Compare the official offer, all charges and your ability to repay before making a borrowing decision.
