THE SHORT ANSWER

DevLys, Unicode, and Mangal are not the same thing

DevLys 010 is a legacy glyph-position font workflow. Unicode assigns stable character values to Devanagari text. Mangal is one font that renders Unicode Devanagari.

That is why changing the font menu alone does not repair legacy text. The stored characters must be mapped and visually ordered before a modern font can display the intended Hindi.

Two conversion directions

Move DevLys to Unicode or Unicode back to DevLys.

Local by design

Input stays in the current browser tab.

Order-aware output

Matras and reph are repaired after character mapping.

COMMON QUESTIONS

DevLys to Unicode converter: frequently asked questions

Answers about DevLys 010, Unicode to DevLys, Mangal output, privacy, formatting, and conversion accuracy.

What is a DevLys to Unicode converter?

It changes legacy text stored for the DevLys 010 font into real Unicode Devanagari characters. The Unicode result can be searched, copied, indexed, and displayed by modern Hindi fonts without relying on the original legacy font.

Does this work as a DevLys to Mangal converter?

Yes. The output is Unicode Devanagari, and Mangal is one font that can display that text. The converter changes character encoding; it does not embed or download the Mangal font.

Can I convert Unicode back to DevLys?

Yes. Choose Unicode → DevLys, paste Unicode Hindi, and convert. The result is legacy text intended to be viewed with DevLys 010, so it may look like Latin characters when that font is not applied.

Which DevLys version is supported?

The mapping is designed for DevLys 010, also searched as DevLys 10. Other family variants can differ. Convert a known sample first and proofread rare characters before processing important material.

Why does DevLys text look like random English letters?

Legacy Devanagari fonts place Hindi glyphs at older character positions. Without the matching font, the stored characters are shown as their underlying Latin-looking text, such as Hkkjr instead of भारत.

Does the converter fix Hindi matras and reph?

Yes. It reorders the pre-base ि matra, repairs र् reph placement, removes stray zero-width controls, and normalizes the Unicode result. Always compare proper names and uncommon conjuncts with the source.

Is my DevLys text uploaded?

No. Conversion, character checks, copying, and TXT creation run in your browser. The page has no text-upload endpoint and does not require an account.

Will formatting from Word, PageMaker, or CorelDRAW be preserved?

Plain-text conversion preserves line breaks and characters, not page layout, font size, columns, images, or application-specific formatting. Copy the text, convert it, then rebuild or apply document formatting in the destination app.

Is DevLys 010 the same as Kruti Dev 010?

They are separate legacy fonts and many workflows treat their common character positions similarly, but sources disagree about complete interchangeability. Use the font named in the original file and verify conjuncts, punctuation, and rare glyphs.

Can I download the converted Hindi text?

Yes. After conversion, choose Download .txt to save a UTF-8 plain-text file. For Word or PDF, paste that text into your document editor and apply the layout you need.

Proofread important documents. The tool is designed for DevLys 010 plain text. Font variants and rare custom glyphs can require manual correction.
