Divide the pixel count by pixels per inch: inches = pixels ÷ PPI. A 1920 × 1080 image is 20 × 11.25 inches at 96 PPI, but only 6.4 × 3.6 inches at 300 PPI. The pixel dimensions do not change; the chosen density changes the physical size.

The formula is short, but the density has to match the job. These distinctions prevent the most common conversion mistake.
Divide width and height in pixels by PPI. At 300 PPI, 3000 × 2400 pixels becomes 10 × 8 inches.
Multiply width and height in inches by PPI. A 4 × 6 inch print at 300 PPI needs 1200 × 1800 pixels.
PPI describes image or display pixels per inch. DPI describes printer dots per inch; the terms are often used together in print-size instructions.
For web layout, the reference conversion is 96 CSS pixels per inch. Physical monitors do not all have the same real pixel density.
Changing PPI metadata or choosing a smaller print size does not create new pixels. Sharpness depends on the original image, viewing distance, printer and paper. Use the converter for dimensions, then follow the print provider's required pixel size and colour guidance.

Divide the number of pixels by PPI. For example, 1200 pixels at 300 PPI is 4 inches, while the same 1200 pixels at 96 PPI is 12.5 inches.
It depends on the chosen density. One inch is 96 CSS pixels for the web reference, 300 pixels at 300 PPI print density, or any other PPI value your workflow specifies.

Not technically. PPI describes pixels in a digital image or display, while DPI describes printed dots. People often say DPI when entering image density, so the field accepts either workflow term.
